Day 34
Emily - Today was a silly kinda day. I just had a lot of fun all day. We started our new classes for the second semester today, I love my french class. Krista, Sarah, Maddy, Lauren, Elizabeth and Hazem are all in that class so I think it's going to be lots of fun. Anyways, this is my friend Krista. As I said before it was a silly day today, so at lunch she was playing around with these fake glasses and it was pretty funny.
Jeanine - "Halcyon Days" - I had no idea about the origin of that phrase before this evening when we went to see the Canadian play Kingfisher Days at the Grand Theatre. In the play... about endless summer days at the cottage...it is explained that Kingfisher (Halcyonidae) nests ride the rough seas, but when their eggs hatch the seas are always calm. Hence the phrase "halcyon days" - those sunny, water-like-glass days that stir the soul. These birds are not Kingfisher's...but they are on the wall in our family room...our beach themed room...designed to try and provide a sense of calm...a place to go to relax and be together when the waves of life threaten to overpower us.
