Day 38

Emily - As this is my sixteenth year, all my friends are turning sixteen. I have 4 friends who all have birthdays in february, within two weeks of each other actually, so it's really cool to be celebrating so many sixteenth birthdays right now :)

Jeanine - Driving home from St. Thomas today, I stopped at a gas station.  I looked up as I was pumping gas and saw the sun setting behind a barn...and I thought to myself....there is beauty everywhere everyday...we just need to look up...and about...more often.  Nose to the grindstone thinking is over-rated!

Day 37

Jeanine - This shot is inspired by all the women in my online photo class last month who took a picture of the hands of one of their parents or grandparents for the prompt about hands (I took the photo of me holding the saxophone for that prompt).  My parents came to visit for the weekend.  These are my dad's hands.  He is 80 years old and has been married to my mom for 55 years.  Amazing.  He, like everyone else in North America tonight, is watching the Superbowl.

Emily - Today we took a tour of the police station with Ian, he's been a cop for a really long time. My mom has been a lawyer for a long time too and she never had this tour before. My favourite part was going into the shooting range and picking up shell casings and the rare bullet.

Day 36

Emily - Wow we got a lot of snow today! I took this photo while I was waiting in the car for my mom today as she got groceries. I took pictures of ice and snow, the only problem being is most of the photos I took had houses in the background.

Jeanine - we got quite the snowfall today!  Here Emily has decided mom needs to get up close and personal with the snow!  : )

This is why I'm so looking forward to our upcoming visit to California!!

Day 35

Emily - There's a funny story behind this photo. As my mom was driving me from rehearsal to youth group she saw the moon which was beautiful because it almost looked like an eclipse. So she said "TAKE A PICTURE" so I took out the camera and went into SUPER ZOOM mode. And tried very hard to take a picture of the moon. The only issue was the street light in the way, but fortunately it looks like the sun in this photo.

Jeanine - We are lucky to have a river that runs through our city - The Thames River.  I love seeing all the birds congregate by the river to bask in the sun...even in the bitter cold.

Day 34

Emily - Today was a silly kinda day. I just had a lot of fun all day. We started our new classes for the second semester today, I love my french class. Krista, Sarah, Maddy, Lauren, Elizabeth and Hazem are all in that class so I think it's going to be lots of fun. Anyways, this is my friend Krista. As I said before it was a silly day today, so at lunch she was playing around with these fake glasses and it was pretty funny.

Jeanine - "Halcyon Days" - I had no idea about the origin of that phrase before this evening when we went to see the Canadian play Kingfisher Days at the Grand Theatre.  In the play... about endless summer days at the cottage...it is explained that Kingfisher (Halcyonidae) nests ride the rough seas, but when their eggs hatch the seas are always calm.  Hence the phrase "halcyon days" - those sunny, water-like-glass days that stir the soul.  These birds are not Kingfisher's...but they are on the wall in our family room...our beach themed room...designed to try and provide a sense of calm...a place to go to relax and be together when the waves of life threaten to overpower us.

Day 33

Jeanine - I had the pleasure this evening of spending time with a vibrant group of women at a wine tasting event called STEMS.  Tonight we paired sparkling wine and red wine with chocolate.  Yum!  This isn't one of the wines we tried though.  Guilty Men is the wine my law firm gave to the prosecutors for Christmas!  ; )
You might also want to try the other wine we gave this year...Innocent Bystander.

Emily - I thought I'd play around with the editing today, i usually do but today i though i'd try something different. These are my new tap shoes that I need for my show, I couldn't think of a way to make them look interesting so I decided to make them look like they were from an old photo. I like the black edges to it :)

Day 32

Emily - Unfortunately I'm sick. So my best friend right now is orange juice :) Mmm Mmm, ya know how adults need their morning coffee, I need my morning oj. It's my favourite drink. So when I'm sick, it's kinda awesome because I get to drink almost a whole carton full.

Jeanine - first day without a prompt - well, sorta.  I am getting prompts from two sources...a splinter group from my online photo class has set up on Flickr and I am getting a prompt from another class called Joy of Love from Willette Designs...both prompts were about love...so here is the man I love...making dinner...he is a DO-ER!  His Mantra is Git-r-done!  There's nothing he can't do. And that's one of the many reasons why I love him!
