Day 59

Emily -     "Whatever"

I had a photo shoot with the stuff on my bedside table today :) I didn't know how many photos I could take just from something so simple.

Jeanine - "I've Got Mail!"

I look forward to checking the mail everyday (or asking Em to check the mail for me).  I love the anticipation of what might be behind that little door...the wonder of the  possibilities that remain hidden until I turn the key.  Today? Bills...ugh!

Day 58

Emily - I took this photo today as I watched my recorded survivor. I love that show :) This season they brought back Boston Rob (For any of you who watch he's the one who fell in love with Amber on the show and then proposed to her at the season finale. They now have two kids) and his "Arch Nemesis" Russell. I took this photo from my phone not thinking it was going to my blog photo, but it ended up being the only photo I tok that day :)

Jeanine - "Me and Mike"

Met Mike Holmes today at a fundraiser.  Bid on and won a pair of his overalls he wore during Season 1 of his show.  He signed them!  Got them for my favourite handyman.

Day 57

Emily - Today we celebrated two of my best friends sixteenth birthday. We went bowling and then back to one of their houses for food and presents. It was so much fun and I can't believe some of my friends are turning sixteen

Happy Birthday you two

Love you both (L)

Jeanine - "Shoe-aholic"

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE SHOES!   This pair was my Valentine's Day gift - bought while in San Francisco.  Love them!  C'mon spring so I can wear them!  I took this photo today for my on-line class...my second of 3 self-portraits.

Friday, February 25, 2011

Day 56

Emily -  At youth group today 6 of my friends were wearing either a lululemon headband or lululemon pants (in my case both) So I thought it seemed fitting to take a picture of their popular logo.

Jeanine - "Skyping"

I love Skype!

Started my work day at home this morning skyping with a client.  Love the convenience of Skype!

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Day 55

Emily -  Went to the Grand Theatre for another show today. It was Sherlock Holmes and it was quite fabulous.

"Elementary my dear Watson"

Jeanine - "The Office"

Cleaned my office today.

The desks are never - I repeat NEVER - this clean.

Day 54

Emily - A necklace my friend gave me from her trip to hawaii, I think it's so beautiful but I never seem to be able to find the right outfit to wear it with so that is my challenge for the week :)

Jeanine - "Please Help"

You don't have to go far from your front door to find people in need in our city.  This man and his sign made me think about the verse in the Bible ..."...whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Day 53

Jeanine - "Self Portrait"

This week I started a new on-line photography class at Big Picture Classes called Picture Inspiration.  It goes for 52 weeks and provides a weekly photo prompt (as opposed to the daily prompt we had in Picture Winter).  Someone in the class suggested we take a new self portrait for our "avatar" that is used to identify us within the group while we await our first prompt on Thursday.  This is me wearing my favourite colour...RED.  Growing up I was told red heads can't wear red.  Now that I'm in my 40's I wear what I like.

Emily -  To continue with the theme of red I took a picture of one of my favourite candies... The Swedish Berry :D I had a mini pack today and I remembered how addictive they are, it took all my will power to not take a second, I think that's quite an accomplishment. Hahah

Day 52

Emily - I made the cover of the blog scrapbook today and started another page as well. It's nice to have a nice clean space again :)

This is the nice work I did

Jeanine - "Gold Medal Performance"

I have known my friend Aaron for ten years -- his entire life.  He loves sports - especially hockey.  He plays soccer, baseball and basketball.  This is the medal he won at a basketball tournament this weekend.  He's very proud of it and I am very proud of him.

Day 51

Emily - Spent the day organizing my scrapbook stuff. Also worked on the blog scrapbook, we're taking all the pictures we take this year and putting them in an album. Quite a job! Anyways, this is my whirly gig (as we call it) It holds all our supplies. I have one and my mom has a double stack one.

Jeanine - "Sunday Dinner"

Growing up we always had Sunday Dinner at lunchtime just after church.  Now, as often as we can, Ian and I try to have his kids and my daughter over for dinner on Sunday evening.  Tonight it was Cobb Salad following a memorial service for a friend of mine who died of cancer and left behind his wife (a cancer survivor) and two young daughters.  I can't get them out of my head.  I was blessed to have known him and I am blessed to still share Sunday Dinners with my family.

Day 50

Emily - This is how I spent my day. My friend came over and we had a nice lazy day playing Super Mario Galaxy for like 6 hours. Yeah I know, were cool

Jeanine - "Invitation"

Twelve days and counting until the launch of my new blog...The Mentor Project.  The aim of the blog is to create an online community to mentor new and aspiring female lawyers.  I am very excited about this project - although I think the launch party is more ready than the blog at this point.  Yikes!

I admit I am nervous about doing this thing.  I have no idea if it will be a success or not.  I think it will be well received...but time will tell.  Mentoring is very important to me.  I have been blessed with incredible mentors my entire career.  All have been male.  I have watched from afar the careers of some great female lawyers but I have never had the opportunity to be mentored by one.

Day 49

Emily - I guess both of our photos kind of look like paintings today. My mom says I look like a little girl, what do you think?

I have my finger over my mouth in this picture as if i'm saying "shh" to someone. Not really sure why I thought of that. I guess maybe because it was a quiet day.

Jeanine - "Sea or Sky?"

Answer: Sky

Feeling hopeful for spring.  It was a gorgeous sunny day with double digit temps.  Loved the way the sky looked today and wondered when I shot this whether I could make it look like whitecaps on the water during processing.

Day 48

Emily - I see my mom has been naming her photos recently.... ok

"Smelly Feet"

Haha just kidding, I was sick today (soar throat, slight fever etc.) So I stayed in my pajamas for the majority of the day, just being lazy. I think this photo portrays laziness very well

Jeanine - "View from the Jury Box"
This is where I spend my days...a courtroom.  I was inspired to take this photo because a young colleague did her first jury trial this week and the jury started deliberating today.  I spent my day arguing about Charter rights in this very courtroom.  No jury - just me and my client, the crown attorney and the judge.  I love this place.

Day 47

Jeanine - "Breakfast for Dinner"

Whew!  Busy day.  No time to eat.  Got home at 11 tonight.  This is my dinner.  But who doesn't love cereal before bed?

Emily - It's so beautiful out today, warm and sunny. I even came outside after school and some idiot said first sign of summer! yeah feb 16th, definitely buddy. Anyways, I wanted to capture the sun today so I went outside and saw the little birds nest that's outside our door. Every little birds are born their and they're sooooooo cute. I  accidentally took a picture of the branches and I got this cool photo. :)

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Day 46

Emily - This is the second worst printer in the world. I hate it! I had a project due and it decided that it should just turn off on me and decide to not print anything. Ain't it great?

Jeanine - "Mel's Diner"

Yes - the same diner - but taken at 6 a.m. this morning before heading to the airport and back home.  Always good to be home, but I wish we had a diner like this in London.

Day 45

Emily - Happy Valentines day! My dad got me Laura Secord chocolates. Mmm they're delicious.

Jeanine - "Valentine Cupcake"

It was a very happy Valentine's Day spent with my valentine!

Day 44

Emily - Boring and lazy day today. This is my book shelf that has many pictures on it. The one you can see is my head shot from grade 4 or something. Like it the DOF? hehe

Jeanine - "The Diner"

Ah the American Diner - yummy!  This one even had good coffee and juke boxes that worked.  Great way to start off the day!

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Day 43

Jeanine - "Wind Chime #2"

I have a thing for wind chimes.  I spotted this one the afternoon we spent roaming the streets in Sausalito.

Emily - My semi formal was today, the theme was candy land, very cheezy but i had a lot of fun. These are my best friends. They all go to school with me except for Nikka (the one in the polk-a-dot dress). So starting from the left it goes Heather (my BFFLAAT), Me, Nikka, Maddy, Krista, Jesslyn, Sarah and Shannon. I love these girls with all of my heart!

Day 42

Jeanine - "The Golden Gateway"

There really is something special about the Golden Gate Bridge.  And for that matter, the whole Bay Area is a pretty special place.  You can walk everywhere if you want (and your legs can stand the hills!) - and everywhere you look there is a great view.

Emily - So today I meant to take a photo of a drawing I made in grade 9 that now hangs in our kitchen. I got this odd shot, I really like something about this photo, but i'm not sure what...

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Day 41

Jeanine - "Spring Blooms"

I must say it was wonderful to see the cherry blossoms and magnolia trees blooming in San Francisco.  Such a nice change from the snow here.  These beauties greeted us during our stroll on Union Street the first morning.

Emily - I emptied the contents of my purse today and it made a huge mess. Thought it'd be a good photo :)

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Day 40

Jeanine - "Winging It"

Winging our way to sunny California!

Emily- My semi formal is coming up this saturday and i'm very excited. This years theme is candyland (yes very cheezy) so on the tickets they give you this lollipop, ya know to go with the theme. So today at lunch four of my friends were eating them and I looked over and I said I head to get a picture :)

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Day 39

Emily - Couldn't think of a photo today until my mom  suggested taking a picture of my pooh bear. I have this stuffed animal of Winnie the Pooh, i've had it since I was born. Because there are so many days left in this blog I've decided to save one of the most important things in my life for later.

So this is my Winnie the Pooh figurine that I got in Dominican Republic :)

Jeanine - "Stuck in Traffic"

Ah...the morning commute... not so bad in a city the size of London...and besides, it gives me a chance to check out the sunrise...and snap a photo!

Monday, February 7, 2011

Day 38

Emily - As this is my sixteenth year, all my friends are turning sixteen. I have 4 friends who all have birthdays in february, within two weeks of each other actually, so it's really cool to be celebrating so many sixteenth birthdays right now :)

Jeanine - Driving home from St. Thomas today, I stopped at a gas station.  I looked up as I was pumping gas and saw the sun setting behind a barn...and I thought to myself....there is beauty everywhere everyday...we just need to look up...and about...more often.  Nose to the grindstone thinking is over-rated!

Sunday, February 6, 2011

Day 37

Jeanine - This shot is inspired by all the women in my online photo class last month who took a picture of the hands of one of their parents or grandparents for the prompt about hands (I took the photo of me holding the saxophone for that prompt).  My parents came to visit for the weekend.  These are my dad's hands.  He is 80 years old and has been married to my mom for 55 years.  Amazing.  He, like everyone else in North America tonight, is watching the Superbowl.

Emily - Today we took a tour of the police station with Ian, he's been a cop for a really long time. My mom has been a lawyer for a long time too and she never had this tour before. My favourite part was going into the shooting range and picking up shell casings and the rare bullet.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Day 36

Emily - Wow we got a lot of snow today! I took this photo while I was waiting in the car for my mom today as she got groceries. I took pictures of ice and snow, the only problem being is most of the photos I took had houses in the background.

Jeanine - we got quite the snowfall today!  Here Emily has decided mom needs to get up close and personal with the snow!  : )

This is why I'm so looking forward to our upcoming visit to California!!

Day 35

Emily - There's a funny story behind this photo. As my mom was driving me from rehearsal to youth group she saw the moon which was beautiful because it almost looked like an eclipse. So she said "TAKE A PICTURE" so I took out the camera and went into SUPER ZOOM mode. And tried very hard to take a picture of the moon. The only issue was the street light in the way, but fortunately it looks like the sun in this photo.

Jeanine - We are lucky to have a river that runs through our city - The Thames River.  I love seeing all the birds congregate by the river to bask in the sun...even in the bitter cold.
