Day 125

Emily - What a beautiful day! Couldn't help but smile after seeing the sunshine after days of rain! bleh! Can't wait for summer and for it to be like this everyday.

Jeanine - "Extreme Birdhouses"

I love driving by this house in Belgrave on the way to the trailer.  There are some amazing birdhouses on display - and I haven't even shown you the really big ones.

Day 124

Emily - After school today I raced my friend to the bus as it was about to leave.... not so smartly did I run through the wet and muddy grass and got mud all along my pant leg. Good job Emily.

Jeanine - "Waves of Happiness"

Tonight we had the pleasure of attending the retirement gala for The Honourable Justice Deborah Livingstone.  The invitation read, in part, "Retirement is like waves of happiness followed by splashes of peace."  This cake reflects that thought.  It was a wonderful evening for a wonderful woman and judge.  She really is Superwoman!  She is a mentor and a friend to me so tonight I felt waves of sadness as I listened to all the speakers (including Ian) and as I thought about life in the criminal courts without her.  It will not be the same.  I am not the same for having known her.  I am better for it.  We all are.

PS - the instamatic camera was a big hit at the party!  I heard "I didn't know they still made those" a lot.  Gave the photos away as I took them.  Very fun!!

Day 123

Jeanine - "Instamatic"
Got a new camera!!  Not the one I'm going to get when I complete six months of blogging, but an exciting new camera nonetheless!  I used to love the old polaroid cameras that gave instant pictures...instant gratification!  After doing the research though, I learned that Fuji created a better version...and here it is.  I'm so excited to give it a try.
Emily - To go with the kitchen prompt for this week I started taking pictures of everything single thing in our kitchen. This is the only one that turned out :s

Ps- My mom definitely needs a new camera....

Day 122 - we are 1/3 of the way there!!!!

Emily - While at the voting station with my dad, I tried to sneak a picture behind the voting cardboard shield. The lady who seemed to be in charge came over to the woman at our table and told her that she thought I had a camera and that there were not supposed to be two people behind the cardboard (even though I have done it many times). After he finished voting the nice lady at our table told us we were not supposed to have a camera, but my dad covered by saying he was just checking his phone :p

Jeanine - "Election Day"

It is such a privilege to vote and to live in a country where we enjoy that freedom and so many others.  This is my polling station.  As always, Em went with me to vote.  I hope you took the time to vote today.

Day 121

Emily - After a movie today I dropped my friend off at her house and had a photo shoot with her three dogs, all very cute. I was really lucky to catch this dog here, Meesha, tilting her head, very very cute!

Jeanine - "Dishing Out Love"

The prompt for my photography class this week requires us to focus on dishes in the kitchen.  I fell in love with this mini milk bottle at the market yesterday so I decided to add it to our kitchen.   Sending love to all of you who take the time to view our blog.  We are a third of the way there tomorrow!

Day 120

Emily - On our way home from the Farmers Market we saw a few deer on the side of the road. After going to Starbucks we came back to take a few shots. (A little different then the one my mom took of a dead one)

Jeanine - "Robin Egg Blue"

Got grief from my girlfriends about the dead deer photo (see Day 115), so today I was looking for something pretty to photograph.  Ian was about to take a chain saw to a tree in our front yard when he discovered a robin's nest high in the branches - so the tree lives for now.  He discovered another nest in a different tree and told me he had the perfect photo for me today.  He was right.  He later found a garter snake in our back yard.  Aaahhh Spring!

Day 119

Emily - It all paid off! I won the popcorn machine for all the volunteering I did! I was going to try and take a picture that represented the wedding but of course I wouldn't be able to take a picture of something on the tv :p

Jeanine - "Royal Wedding Worthy?"

In honour of the Royal Wedding today I dug out my two fancy hats...and wore them while watching the wedding this morning.  Yes, we got up at 5 a.m. to watch.  And yes...I do believe in fairy tales and happy endings.  I just wish we had the opportunity to wear hats more often.  I love hats!
